Pokemon Go Kanto Shiny List
Gen I was a mixed bag for shinies.
Game Freak was undergoing an uphill battle when it came to the Game Boy's limitations, meaning there weren't all that many worthwhile.
Non to mention there were no shinies in the original games, so for Kanto they first came in gen 2's postal service-game (or in gen 3 with FireRed & LeafGreen).
Some Pokémon faired alright, and others ended upward looking absolutely awesome.
All of the shinies on this listing are simple, just that's all they demand to be. If y'all're a fan of the Kanto days, and then you'll definitely savor this list.
15. Cloyster
As I said, the restrictions that Game Freak had with Gen I tech meant there wasn't much room for creativity.
That being said, there are still some basic shiny sprites that expect keen compared to the normal counterparts of those Pokémon.
Cloyster is 1 such example of that.
Avoiding the comparisons of what Cloyster looks like…. Seriously, whose idea what that? Merely the Pokémon turns from a washed-out imperial to a dainty blue.
It'due south really more plumbing equipment for its ice typing in my stance, which is always what you desire from a shiny.
I'm going to keep it real with you lot, though. Gen I Cloyster looks more or less identical whether it's shiny or not. The differences are clearly defined the later on you go into the generations, and then it deserves a spot for certain.
14. Lickitung
I've ranted and raved almost how much I dislike Lickitung in the past.
If Pokémon were real, these things would exist convicted of set on and be hunted into extinction. However, the shiny version looks really pretty. So I'thousand going to overlook any slight problematic issues.
Similar Cloyster, the differences in Gen I are difficult to meet with Lickitung. But non to the same extent. The colour differences gradually get better much faster than the mollusk, though.
Instead of that agonizing pinkish colour, shiny Lickitung is yellow. I'm not going to prevarication, that's too disturbing, simply far less so.
It's very much a written report in how to practice a shiny sprite right, which is rare for Gen I 'mons.
13. Mewtwo
Putting Mewtwo this low on any list feels wrong, only here we are.
Most shiny legendaries are very hit or miss. But Mewtwo sits comfortably in the middle.
It's no Kyogre (which is a miserable looking shiny), but information technology'southward no Rayquaza, either.
Mewtwo's change is elementary. Information technology just gets a greenish tail. Simple, effective, and information technology should be utterly terrifying.
If yous're non terrified of the notion of Mewtwo, then you should be. This Pokémon could realistically wipe out civilization every bit nosotros know it.
That didn't end Ash from trying to requite it a left claw, though. He should only be happy that Mewtwo didn't make his brain melt out of his nose.
12. Vaporeon
Vaporeon is one of those rare cases of a Pokémon being i of the better looking Gen I shinies, before massively dropping downwards the listing every bit time went on.
Vaporeon started off a trend of turning blueish Pokémon purple (however looking at you lot Kyogre), but information technology actually worked really well.
While I personally prefer the infant bluish, at that place's no denying that purple Vaporeon has a sure feminine charm to it that it would otherwise lack.
It felt incorrect to write that, but it's truthful.
If you're going to shiny hunt whatever of the original Eeveelutions, it should be this one. The other two just go a slight tone alter, and then at least shiny Vaporeon is actually unique.
eleven. Mew
Vaporeon got worse with time similar a bad glass of milk.
Mew, on the other manus, behaved like a fine vintage ruddy wine as the generations went on.
Shiny Mew is blue. It's that elementary.
At that place'south no playing about with designs or anything else. Game Freak but went in, job done.
That's not a bad affair, though. And information technology actually does have some thought put into it. As we all know because nosotros've led sad and isolated lives, Ditto is a failed Mew clone when they were attempting to create Mewtwo.
Shiny Ditto is also just bluish.
Fiddling bits of care similar this is what makes a shiny for me. I don't care most colors (that's a lie, I do), simply I besides care about story and narrative considering I accept no life.
10. Hitmonchan
Keeping up with the theme of knowing useless Pokémon trivia, did you know that Hitmonchan is inspired past Jackie Chan and Hitmonlee is inspired by Bruce Lee?
It bears no relevance to the shiny sprites, just it's a cool useless fact none the less.
Battle is the only sport that's successfully gotten me upwards off of my lazy backside. So Hitmonchan edges out its brother but just a smudge.
There's besides the fact that the shiny sprite is way cooler looking, but let me exist self-indulgent for a minute.
Instead of ruby-red gloves, Hitmonchan gets blueish gloves. Which is a chip of a common shiny colour bandy.
It just and so happens that this alter worked incredibly well with the limited Gen I graphics, hence why it gets a solid spot.
9. Arbok
Information technology simply so happens that shiny yellow sprites are traditionally dandy looking, not counting Lickitung for personal morality reasons.
You lot've got the likes of Luxuray, Lucario, and Arbok.
Information technology's nice how closely the color resembles gold, which is rare, but like shinies are. I shouldn't have to explain that too much.
While it definitely doesn't fit the epitome of a poisonous snake, it does look peachy. And who cares nearly logic when something looks pretty?
I've spent more than than I'm willing to admit on random figures that have no basis in any sort of collection. But they look absurd, so I'k going to exist a sucker for Pokémon that follow that tendency.
8. Electrode
Nosotros're back to carmine and blue with this spot, but electrode gets bonus points over Hitmonchan because of context!
I'yard a loser, okay, I get it.
Electrode is designed after a Pokéball originally. And the shiny sprite is based on a nifty brawl.
That's it, but that's all there needs to be.
It'southward 1 of the few Gen I designs with some thought behind the shiny colour swap. And that'south more we can say for about.
7. Ponyta
Why Ponyta and not Rapidash?
You'll see (spoiler alarm!)
I'yard a sucker for a lot of things, equally you might have realized by now. And however some other thing that will become me to spend nonsensical amounts of fourth dimension (and money) is blue fire.
Ponyta is just that: its fire becomes blueish when information technology's shiny. There's just something and so awe-inspiring well-nigh blue flames that orange burn can't compare to.
I wish I could say that Rapidash also had blue flames, but it doesn't… hence why Ponyta is here instead of its evolution.
6. Venusaur
Now nosotros're getting into the big boys of Gen I shiny designs.
In that location was clearly more effort put into the more prominent Pokémon of Gen I, and Venusaur is our first example of that.
Shiny Venusaur just looks, well, shiny.
I know that'southward a bit of a dumb statement. Only a lot of shinies tin can't say the same.
Venusaur's body becomes this sort of sickly green, and its flower takes on this pale yellow look. It honestly looks like shiny Venusaur could keel over at any moment, but that only wins pity points from me.
It's at the bottom of the shiny starter barrel for Gen I. But that'due south not saying much, all things considered. I hateful, have you seen shiny Charizard these days!?
5. Charizard
If you haven't seen him, at present you take.
Any other generation, Charizard would take the number i spot. And it wouldn't even be close.
That existence said, it did undergo a massive sprite change between the Kanto/Johto games and Gen Three games.
Hence why I'm merely putting it at number five here.
Its original shiny sprite is still nothing to scoff at, though. Information technology gets a purple body and green wings, much like another shiny dragon on this list (wink, wink).
The reason it falls flat for me, though, is because the blackness colored upgrade is just so much better looking. It's still well worth getting your hands on if y'all're hunting in the sometime games, though. For whatever reason yous're playing them, either nostalgia or you lot're just a masochistic psychopath.
4. Blastoise
I didn't fifty-fifty realize this until now, but Blastoise really gets the same colour change that Charizard does.
Its body becomes royal, and its shell becomes green.
Information technology'due south done much more tactfully than Charizard, though. And withal holds up equally a shiny fifty-fifty to this day.
Easily the best looking out of the three starters, as well equally beingness the best starter overall. You Charmander loyalists can bite me and my STAB Hydro Cannon.
3. Gyarados
Gyarados is the almost mutual shiny of all time thanks to the infamous cerise Gyarados of lake rage.
Information technology but so happens that information technology looks crawly, too.
The carmine color alter represents all of the anger that Gyarados has repressed within for so long, turning what is already a terrifying Pokémon into a monster that could honestly pop up in 1 of my night terrors (if Tweety Bird makes room for information technology, and that'southward a true story).
The best role is that you don't even have to hunt for a shiny Gyarados (well, if you lot're in the gen 2 games). So go and become your gratuitous shiny as soon as you can.
2. Dragonite
Dragonite is the other dragon shiny that gets the purple and greenish color modify.
Similar Blastoise, it just so happens to do it a lot better than Charizard.
It looks nothing like the rest of its evolution line, which is a fleck weird. But that'south good considering Dragonair is an uninspired pinkish and orangish.
But Dragonite is nonetheless 1 of the all-time looking dragon shinnies even in later games, which is impressive because it has the likes of Haxorus and Dragapult to content with.
It'southward as well the original dragon type, which earns it plenty brownie points to bump it up so high on this list.
1. Rapidash
Bet y'all didn't see this one coming.
Or did, because I spoiled information technology earlier on.
Either way, shiny Rapidash from Gen I is one of my favorite shinies of all fourth dimension. Remember how I said I love blue flames?
Well, I love purple flames even more.
Rapidash is a sad tale for me, though.
Like Charizard, it got a shiny change subsequently Gens I & Ii.
Dissimilar Charizard, that change was not an improvement.
It made its flames black or night grey, which still looks absurd, but not nearly as much every bit those ethereal regal flames.
This reminds me of the Godfather quote, "expect how they massacred my boy".
And when a Pokémon shiny tin brand me harken back to something similar that, information technology'due south going to go the number ane spot on my list.
