So my 8tb external drive crapped out on me yesterday, click of expiry, that was storing all my ps4 games continued to my ps5.

So I took it back and got a new ane under warranty. I knew I was going to have to download a load of games over again just I idea fine, information technology is what it is.

Problem is, I tin can't? My ps5 thinks all the games are installed, just I tin can't uninstall them because to exercise this, I'd demand to exist on usb extended storage, which is greyed out considering evidently that drive isn't connected.

If I click on a game in my collection, it gives me the pick to play, just then says drive isn't connected. No option anywhere to uninstall the games on that broken drive.

Am I literally going to have to wipe my ps5 bare and start from scratch?

Endeavour rebuilding the database in Safe Mode.

Try rebuilding the database in Condom Style.

I did try that , information technology didn't alter anything.

I -retrieve- (not 100%) that you can delete HDD entries by going to storage, console storage and scrolling downwardly to the bottom sorted past file size and your game entries are there. I've seen this earlier when my HDD wouldn't connect properly.

Which options exercise you get if you press the Selection push button on a game icon that is greyed out?

Without the hard drive connected its only showing me games that are on the internal ssd of the ps5 equally installed on the "installed" role of my collection tab.

If I move beyond to collection tab all my games are there that I own including the ones that were installed on the broken bulldoze.

I can click to play on these but so it tells me to connect the bulldoze. The only other options bachelor are things like product folio etc for each of those games.

Accept you lot contacted Sony customer service?

Kinda weird if the just solution is to nuke the whole console if an external bulldoze dies...

If not a mill reset would exist the best choice.

When you lot accept the external disconnected you lot have to become in to Settings -> Storage -> Panel Storage -> Games and Apps. What you should discover is all of the PS4 games that were on your external listed - like this - with the clarification being "Game Content (panel storage sectional). Once you delete these your PS5 essentially forgets that the game was installed on the external drive, and will allow yous to download it once more.

I'm kind of surprised that using the rebuild database pick from Safe Mode didn't automatically remove all these. It may be you accept to do that while the new external drive is connected or something like that, simply it may just be that it doesn't clean these up.

Maybe you have games stored on multiply harddrives which are not plugged in. These should not only go away when rebuilding the database.
